Parents play an
important part on our swim team. They support the Aquatics
Director, Coaches and Swimmers.
We
get our parents involved in Focus Groups, Fundraising (through
apparel sales and concession stands) and planning fun events for
our families.
If you want to know how you can
get more involved contact the Aquatics
Director at the YMCA.
Family
involvement is critical to the success of the team. It is expected
that all families will be involved by filling volunteer roles at
all home swim meets. Most of the jobs require NO previous
experience. If the location of the job does not allow a direct
view of the pool, we encourage our volunteer parents to leave
their posts to watch their swimmers swim their events.
How does volunteering work?
Each
Volunteer Team has a leader and co-leader. In some situations we
need more than two to lead a team. At the beginning of the season
parents will receive a spreadsheet showing which area your family
has been assigned. Before our swim meets start, we can adjust your
assignment if you wish to try a new area.
Team
leaders and co-leaders work with the volunteers on their teams and
schedule them for each meet. They also schedule any meetings or
training sessions, as needed. (Team leader positions are two year
positions)
The goal of the leaders is to
train parents to take over their spots in the future to maintain
the consistency and quality of the program.
